The computing world is volatile and changes constantly: new Javascript frameworks seemingly daily, new projects from Microsoft, IBM i operating system and language improvements, changing mobile platform rules and regulations … the list goes on. Knowing which technologies and projects will stick, staying informed, and constantly updating one’s skills is key to staying relevant.

It’s fast, it’s fun, and I’m glad to be in the thick of it.

I’m Michael Lopez, and full-stack developer and computer consultant located in New York, and owner of Emmerel Software Systems, Inc.

I work on the Microsoft platform, IBM i (AS/400) platform, and the Xamarin mobile platform. I specialize in integrating these platforms.

Whether it’s database design, web apps, desktop apps, 5250 workstation apps, mobile apps, or services unifying it all, I’ve probably done it.

I’ve written many systems, mainly for the business industry. Along the way I’ve learned a lot of best practices, and have witnessed a lot of bad practices.
